ATCA:
AdvancedTCA or ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) or ATCA 3.x is a new series of industry standard specifications for the next generation of carrier grade communications equipmentis. The ATCA was formed by PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group), and it is the largest specification effort in its history with more than 100 companies participating. ATCA incorporates the latest trends in high speed interconnect technologies, next generation processors, and improved reliability, manageability and serviceability, resulting in a new blade (board) and chassis (shelf) form factors. MicroTCA
The MicroTCA specifications or mTCA.x is a new series of specifications, that take the extensive knowledge and practices developed with AdvancedTCA and applies them to the area of smaller form factor plug in systems.
The standard was also developed by PICMG with the participation of over ninety five companies. The standard was finalized in July 2006 after 18 months of development.
AdvancedTCA300
AdvancedTCA300 or ATCA300 is a new series of industry standard specifications for implementing AdvancedTCA based equipment which requires compliance with 300mm ANSI and ETSI equipment practices. The intent is to re-define the size of the front board and eliminate the standard AdvancedTCA Rear Transition Modules. The standard has not been completed yet by PICMG.
